Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
