The prospect of a serious and intriguing heavyweight contest between Parker and Fabio Wardley at the iconic O₂ Arena offers a welcome respite to the challenged industry. Parker, who turns 34 in January, said: “It's win or go home. I am not focused on a loss. I honor my adversary and his accomplishments and his preparation for this contest. But I am on a superior tier and I am intending to prove it on fight night.”

Wardley turns 31 in December, and he said: “It's a huge evening for the two of us. It is clearly the most significant bout of my boxing journey and the most important fight ever. But every time I step up I rise to the occasion. The upcoming fight will be no different. The gap between Parker's status and what others believe about me has been a frequent topic throughout my career.
