Approximately 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

Simultaneously, around one thousand households in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, over 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.

Medical Alert

Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
