President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House
President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
White House Call
The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Community members came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in DC.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, told the press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to assist people.”
Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting visas to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with his relatives.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” the governor addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
