Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

But the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
