Sweden Team Reveal: Isak Included Whereas Gyokeres Excluded
Viktor Gyokeres signed with Arsenal after leaving Sporting in July
Gunners forward the Swedish attacker was left out from the new manager's initial Sweden squad, whereas Reds forward Alexander Isak received selection
Gyokeres is scheduled to undergo more examinations in the coming days amid fears he suffered a muscle problem during the Gunners's Premier League win against the Clarets on Saturday
The 27-year-old sat out Arsenal' Champions League success against Slavia Prague earlier this week
Isak Back in Action
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from late October due to muscle issues, has been chosen for World Cup qualifying matches against Switzerland (November 15th) and the Slovenian side (November 18th)
Additional England-based Selections
- Spurs playmaker Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
- Newcastle wide player the Swedish international
Both athletes were included in Potter's England-based contingent named by former multiple English clubs boss the new Swedish coach
The New Manager's Appointment
Potter was appointed by Sweden initially for an interim period on 20 October, less than a month following his departure from West Ham
Previous manager Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked after the national team's 1-0 loss against the Kosovan team in mid-October, a result that ended straight qualification in their World Cup group unattainable
Current Situation
The Swedish team are currently last place in their qualifying group having only one point in their opening four games
Should they fail to claim the runner-up spot, there remains a chance they might be involved in the World Cup play-offs as a result thanks to their showing in the latest Nations League
