Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden championship series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for 23 playoff homers, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment except for Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" after his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
